    This volume of Encyclopedia Thrace is the result of a long-standing idea of the Union of Thracian societies in Bulgaria and Thracian Scientific Institute in Sofia to collect the vast information accumulated in memories, books and articles related to the Thracian Bulgarians. They fought for independence, for joining the Bulgarian state, but as a result of the geopolitical interests of the Great Powers after the Balkan Wars and the WW I were subjected to genocide, and their property was seized or destroyed. This encyclopedia is a scientific reference publication containing general information about the Bulgarian national movement in Thrace from the National revival period to the present day.
